iBiz 4 takes a great application and makes it even better. Got a story to share? Let's hear it!

Gerard Williams

American Sign Language/English Interpreter

I have worked independently as a web developer for years, but never had enough income for it to matter on my taxes, or for me to need something to manage invoices. After getting my Masters Degree in Interpretation, I decided to go into private practice and work for myself. For about 5 months I used Numbers to manage invoices and data, and although I enjoyed the flexibility, I spent a lot of time trying to make sure all the data was correct, viewing it in different formats, etc.

I'm also super picky about software. I tried all of the small business programs like MacFreelance, Billable, Quicken, and others. Invariably either they were feature lacking or flexibility lacking. iBiz strikes a great balance, letting a power user like me custom design my invoices, while keeping diligent records. Updates are constantly happening to improve the program, and the support via the IGGsoft Forum is surprisingly helpful.

Since I started using iBiz, i've managed to get two other interpreters in my group of colleagues to switch over. More are on the way, if I have anything to say about it.

Kelly O'Neill, The Artist of Life

Graphic Designer and Portrait Artist

Gone are the days using manual timers on my desk, pieces of scrap paper with minutes and job names written on them, trying to remember if I logged them into my spreadsheet yet or not. iBiz 4 has arrived and simplified my worklife!

I am a freelance graphic designer, and I juggle 3-4 clients on a daily basis, many of them with multiple projects I'm handling. I'm a stickler for careful invoicing, and until now I've spent far too much time insuring that I log all of my time properly.

I recently test drove a few other time-tracking programs, but none of them came close to offering the amount of features and usability that iBiz 4 offers. And, it's a one-time fee, rather than paying monthly for a lesser service!

I just love being able to invoice with the click of a button, keep track of who has or hasn't paid, send reminders, and track project activity on all of my clients. I also love that I can track my non-billable time on projects like portraits that have either a flat price attached to them, or that are my own personal projects that I like to track. A bonus I wasn't expecting is the ease of bidding properly on future jobs because I can quickly reference how long I worked on similar past jobs.

The business owner in me is happy to be organized. The nerd in me is positively giddy that she finally has a system that does it all.

I'm sorry I left you...

Yes, over a year ago, I was wooed away from iBiz to the "new and improved" Quickbooks for Mac. Yes, my accountant told me, Quickbooks was "the way to go." Yes, I thought, if I was going to seriously manage my business, then I needed a serious software package. Right?? Right????

...Quickbooks is an utter disaster. I spend more time than I care to, trying to manage Quickbooks, rather than my business. iBiz a year ago had its flaws (particularly with the invoice design), but those were manageable compared to the brick that is Quickbooks.

Oh, iBiz, how I missed you. And now, you're better than ever. Will you take me back?? Will you forgive me for ever leaving you?

Here's what other users had to say about iBiz 3:

Jonathan Natiuk, Radiant Ventures LLC

Web Developer and Photographer

I'm what you'd call an "April Hater." No, not your mom's friend April, she's nice. I just dread that particular month. Because what happens then? Yup, taxes. And for procrastinating small business owners like me who only do bookkeeping once a year, it's truly dreadful.

While I might procrastinate on bookkeeping, iBiz helps me stay on top of the most important aspect of by business -- my income! Before using iBiz I would sit down at the end of a month and guess my times for each company I was contracting with (shhh, don't tell them. Besides, you've never done that, right?). I'm sure that I came out on the short end of the stick.

TIME TRACKING: Plain and simple, iBiz makes it easy to track my time. Of huge importance to me is that it's a snap to adjust the time when I forget to stop the clock as I take a break to play with my 3-month old daughter (in the picture). I tried other products and it was unbelievable how difficult it was to adjust time quickly.

BILLING: iBiz also makes it easy for me to bill for items that I would have previously ignored. Things like mileage, shipping & postage, etc. iBiz makes it incredibly efficient for me to create and email multiple invoices. I have no doubt that iBiz paid for itself the first WEEK I used it. Not to mention that I did not receive ONE SINGLE question on my invoices for the entire year. It's hard to argue with itemized invoices.

REPORTS: When it does come time for taxes, I use the Report feature to help me look back over the year. It saves me a lot of time going back through my paper trail.

I tried many other software solutions on the market. I can say that without a doubt, iBiz gives me more features I need and makes them easier to use. All this for an affordable price that you'll probably earn back the first month you use it.

Psychologist

I have tried a wide variety of software to keep the books for my very small psychology practice. I am a sole proprietor, and I didn't need any of the programs that better serve the bigger companies. iBiz is user-friendly, intuitive, and it has made my life so easy, I no longer need to pay a bookkeeper! I can do it myself with iBiz and iBank!!

THANK YOU!!

Sigurdur Armannsson

Freelancer

I use iBiz to keep track of my freelance projects. One of the most valuable features for me is how easy it is to make an estimate and mail it to my clients. Clients usually call me on the phone. Instead of giving numbers by what I think the project will cost, I say: "You'll get the estimate in mail in five minutes". Surprisingly my estimates made in iBiz, using the rates I have put in, are usually twice as high as the number I had in mind when I get the calls.

Because of that, iBiz was paid up in the first estimate. Everyone lived happily ever after.

Phillip Roberto

Web Designer

I use iBiz to keep my marriage together. It's true. I broke off from the folds of a larger company at the dawn of the new millenium. I found that I am made of the right stuff for self-employment. I love what I do as a web designer: visual problem solving aimed at solving online communication needs.

I love it so much however that I had no idea just how much time I'd expend. My folly snuck up and began to strangle my image of myself as a good worker. Rough estimates (which turned out to be remarkably inaccurate) routed me off course from the start as I bid for jobs. The rest is as you can imagine. Desperate, I printed out a time sheet from my wife's graphic design business (her concern for my success was mounting) which became great for jotting notes and not-so-great to track progress.

Enter iBiz! I set it up and it works. Yes, just that simple. It even watches me and checks to see if I'm slacking or just have my hands off the mouse and keyboard. Of course the prompt I get to see what the heck I'm doing is non-judgemental. Work and home life are both rolling along smoothly.

Christopher Goeken

Lawyer

I'm a lawyer who loves Macs (I know, there's something wrong with me). When I opened up my own practice about a year and a half ago, I searched around for easy and affordable time billing software. The solutions made especially for the legal field are clunky and complicated.

So I was thrilled to find iBiz and iBank. They work like a program on a Mac should, not like a Windows program that's been converted over to the platform. They talk to each other and all my Mac software like Address Book so I don't have to enter in data over and over again. Most important of all, it didn't take me several hours to figure out how to use it. After only a few minutes, I was up and running.

iBiz means I can worry about one less administrative thing and focus my energy on helping my clients instead.

Nicola Cox

Business Owner

From almost the day I started my branding development business in 2003 as a sole trader iBiz has been a godsend. As a typical creative, systems are not my forte, but iBiz was so easy to use that I've no doubt that because of it I have saved my time, charged more time (than by using a paper-based methods) and abolished any frustrated ripping of hair from my scalp (a very fortunate occurrence for a female!).

Yes, iBiz has not only saved my sanity over the years, but I have impressed and become a figure of adulation to other business owners who I've introduced it to. Recently I employed my first full time employee, and with much satisfaction I upgraded to the iBiz Server/Client version. Yeehaw. Now I can spend my time checking on HIS weekly progress using your great reporting features.

Anthony Mcinerheney, Blue Sky Design Australia

Designer/Consultant

This is my story of I.

Once apon a drawing board I started life as a designer. Pens in hand I went into the world. The world started changing while I learnt my trade. Bromide cameras grew dust on them, Lettraset went unrubbed and my miriad of coloured pens dried out once I learnt Illustrator, C4D and Photoshop. I had grown up. Nothing left to it, I started a company.

I designed stuff and people liked it. Suddenly I was a manager and I never knew what my people did and when. Then I found iBiz. I knew what people were doing and better yet I was able to bill other people for it. The company became profitable. I sold it. Now I sit in Bali and work as a consultant. I still use that little piece of software, but only if the waves aren't breakin.

Jeff Wright

Web Designer/Developer

My web design business is a detailed hodge-podge of deliverables, project types and costs. Managing them is like juggling fresh fish - something is going to slip. Most project/time management software only serves to make things more complicated. Another fish to juggle.

But with iBiz, all the slippery details seem to have perfect little places to fit into. Tasks that used to take a lot of time, like invoicing, now take a minute or less. I'm not juggling fish anymore, and even better, I'm not worried about it. I know I've got everything tucked safely, simply, and logically away so I can focus on making my clients happy...which is like putting a bear to sleep. And that's hard enough to do without all those fish in the air.
